After completing the first version of my Intamin launch track prototype, I decided it was time for an upgrade.
This new Version 2 is larger, stronger, and much more refined. The V1 was mainly a test piece to explore proportions and geometry, but this new model represents a real leap forward both in design and functionality.

For this version, I increased the overall dimensions to make the track more stable and realistic.
The rails now have a thicker profile, and the cross-ties have been redesigned to better reflect the proportions of a real Intamin track.

The entire model was redesigned from scratch in CAD, optimizing the connection points and making it easy to print on any standard FDM 3D printer without the need for complex supports.

This straight section was specifically designed to match the new train car I’ve been developing both perfectly scaled and dimensionally accurate.
The car will be able to slide smoothly along the track, using the typical Intamin wheel configuration (running, side, and up-stop wheels).

In the near future, both the STL file of the track and the coaster car will be available for download, so anyone can recreate or expand the project.

Beyond structural improvements, I also focused on visual accuracy. The reinforced crossbeams and cleaner joints between the rails give this version a much more realistic look.
The goal is to make each section not just functional, but also beautiful to display a small piece of engineering art in miniature.

Next, I plan to create curved sections, lift segments, and vertical supports to gradually build a complete modular Intamin-style layout.
All parts will remain compatible with the same train model, so everything fits together perfectly for both play and display.

I also added two small side stoppers that can be attached to both sides of the track.
They’re not meant for realism, but simply to keep the coaster car from sliding off the rails and falling, especially during tests with the straight track section and the future train model.

If you enjoyed this model, you could make a small donation to help me continue creating free 3D models. It would be a great help to me. Thank you very much for your support!

You will need to print a total of 7 pieces:

  • 1 main track/rail section
  • 2 central support pillars that hold the structure
  • 4 connector plates, installed in pairs on each pillar, one facing upward and one facing downward to lock the rail in place.

Here, you can download the zip file with the 3D model ready to be printed.
